No Slip Safety
Shortly after we got our 2016 369RL #4808 in May of 2015, the DW slipped on the steps going up to the front area.
I reached out to Grand Design to ask if they had upgraded stair treads that would be better than the composite ones that come standard. I did not hear from them for a while.
In the meantime, I put 3M anti-slip strips on the treads that I bought at Ace Hardware. The strips came in a roll and I used scissors to cut the strips to fit.
Then a box showed up on our doorstep from Grand Design. It was a handrail. Woohoo. But, since I had already installed the strips on the tread, I put the handrail in a drawer.
It remained in a drawer for over 2 years and a recent post about a backing plate in the wall inspired me to install it.
I found the steel backing plate using a magnet. I made the angle of the handrail the same as the angle of the steps. I used #10-32 self-tapping hex head screws to mount the brackets.
Another mod....done.
Oh, and the DW was not hurt way back when and neither of us have slipped on these steps since.

Very nice mod on the anti slip strips, thank you for sharing. I will be doing this soon as I have slipped and about busted my butt a couple of times while wearing just socks on those steps lol! Mine already has the handrail but who uses that in a hurry?

James, after slipping going down my steps while wearing socks in my 337RLS I also used 3M anti-slip tape on my stairs. This should be a standard feature. Those stairs are dangerous slippery.

I ordered rubber-backed stair treads from Amazon for that same purpose. And if the seller hadn’t shipped he wrong part, I’d already be set. And it’s not just the wife and I that are having issues with those stairs. Our dogs are having all kinds of trouble navigating these. Not good!

I did the same thing going from the living room steps to the kitchen in our 375res. We went to Home Depot and got non skid strip for the all of the steps.
