I think the flex guard goes over the rod. Look at the loop at the end of the flex card in the link. Look like the "hinge" mounts to the frame.

got it...you're right. My strap snapped an inch from the screws on the slide side. Used 6 inched of a bicycle tube to fix it until I get home.

Mine has already rubbed through the line. In fact, it pulled it down and got under the tire while driving. It ripped the line off completely. The propane was on at that time keeping the refrigerator cold as I had a long days drive. Fortunately I didn't burst into flames.

Wow that's dangerous, I'm waiting for my dealer to get parts, they drilled holes in the plastic strap and connected it to the slide with zip ties. I'm not happy

You're better off to just fix it with a piece of rubber or a hinge and be done with it. My strap lasted a couple trips when new, and a whole year and still going with the rubber bolted on the end.

I replaced two broken plastic straps on my 2014 solitude------Grand Design said cause could be bad lot------could not find lot number on strap, only make and patent number---noticed when I installed rolled up straps from the box and installed them the same way as the factory ( name out) it created a lot of resistance
within the folded strap, which I suspect caused the premature cracking in the plastic, and in my opinion has nothing to do with the bad batch theory.

So I removed the straps again an reversed them so the lettering is on the inside of the strap ---reinstalled them in the same order off the memory created by the way they where rolled up in the box.The operational difference an ease to how stap folds is night and day. I hope this will improve the longevity of the product.

I see the new Grand Designs have a mix of a large spring cable carriers under the slides together the plastic cable carrier STILL! with the lettering and the outside-----hmm
