What did you learn at the Rally Seminars?

I thought it would be good if some of the attendees could summarize some useful information and tips learned from the vendor presentations at the rally. Alright, who was paying attention and taking notes?

It wasn't a vendor, but my next door neighbor, Jim of Kathy and Jim, ( Navigator ), that gave me some good advice on mileage. He told me to slow down from 62-65 to 55 mph. I gained three mpg, compared to my trip to the rally. Went from 9.5 to 12.5.
    Thank you Jim !

Dave was talking with the Atwood rep, and told him about the reports of refrigerator problems. He said it was the heating element; they had two suppliers and had trouble with one of them. They have dropped that supplier. If you haven't had a problem, you should be fine.

I learned more about my thermostat functions on my Dometic Heat Pump and A/C system. Learned on Auto it will pick the mode that is necessary to maintain the proper temperature in the RV. It is a nice system and i am very happy with it.

I learned that our group as a collective knew more about tires than the vendor seemed to. Found that a little amusing.

I missed the seminars as I was hijacked into going "decorate the trailer shopping" not that I am complaining LOL.

The auto function on the thermostat sounds rather interesting and I am sorry I missed that part. I think I am pretty tech savvy but our thermostat is down right perplexing. I am going to try the auto function and see if ours picks the correct mode of operation.

As for slowing down glad you did learn the mileage lesson Gord, it saves more then fuel when it comes right down to it. It saves wear and tear on your vehicle, tires, and sanity! You will notice over time that you normally end up alone ish on the highway as the mass of traffic playing the passing game is either behind you, passing you and then in front of you. Your pocketbook and grey hair will thank you later on LOL.

We thought the Atwood tech was quite informative-good brochures and explanations about the frigs (and their problems) but also about the hot water heater and tips to extend life. I thought the biggest tip on the tires was air pressure-air pressure-air pressure.

Auto Level System has In-line 10AMP Fuse & Can Raise Tires off Ground & More Learned

Leaned several things at the Rally from Grand Design Warranty Service Dept and their Vendor Reps. Some that come to mind are the following :

    1) The Grand Design RV Warranty Repair Center showed me that there was an in-line 10 AMP fuse located near the battery for the Lippert Auto Levelling System. Check this fuse first if the levelling control is not working.
    a) If the battery voltage is low, the levelling system will draw more current and blow the in-line fuse
    b) Never install a fuse rated more than 10 AMP otherwise the levelling system will be damaged

    2) The Lippert Rep stated that the auto levelling system can be used to raise the trailer wheels off the ground to work on the tires or under the trailer but only after setting it down on jack stands to stabilize trailer for safety

    3) The Thermostat Control is a 7-day programmable control that will automatically switch between the heat pump, furnace, or air conditioner as required

    4) The temperature probe for the the thermostat is located within a white louvered circular bezel. In the Solitude 369RL its located below the Maxxfan control switch across from the entry door.
