    PEX to flex hose nightmare

This subject is well documented on this forum but how prevalent is it actually?
First year of ownership, 2nd, 3rd?
This almost sounds like a deal breaker for purchasing an RV???

From my understanding it's not a big deal to connect flex hose to PEX if you have the proper fittings. I don't much care for a lot of youtube, so I didn't click the link.

No big deal. Manufacturers in general should do a better job, but anyone, including my 87 year-old MIL could fix the issues.

The only flex hose I've found on our Solitude so far was from the back of the Nautilus panel to the water filter housing in the utility bay and then back behind the panel again. I had to replace the water filter housing when it developed a crack on the top and replaced the flex with PEX at that time. The plastic (PVC, I think) check valve on the back of the water heater cracked this past spring. Our RV tech replaced it with a brass check valve and replace a nearby plastic PEX T with a brass one. Every place else I've had to do anything, I've replaced any plastic fittings with brass ones. I see the flimsy fittings as more of a problem than the flex hose.

Very thorough over view of the models he looked at. Obviously, it would be hard to say ALL the models of a particular manufacturer are built this way.

However, a lot of his points have been discussed by those claiming issues with their GD like RVs.

Glad my Reflection showed a higher rating (eventhough fairly disapponting) than the Solitude line he reviewed nonetheless!

....all with a grain of salt.

No leaks (from hoses/fittings) in the past 5 years, but have replaced a pump filter that was leaking, then later a pump that leaked. But I do carry a couple 6 foot lengths of pex, brass fittings, check valve & tools for the day that it will happen.

I as well have had no major issues, to include plumbing, for my reflection (knock on wood 100X.) Only had to replace the pump filter after it cracked and circuit board for the water heater (2X before I got the Dinosaur board.) After watching the video I checked my plumbing and 99% was Pex. The hot and cold water lines in my island were even metal braided. Granted, any 5th wheel is prone to breakdowns but, it seems to me that those made after 2019, minus the leaking break seal issue of earlier models, have had way more major issues like roof membrane and islands falling off the floor mounts. Lack of quality control, cheaper construction, or both? I would definitely look at all three, Alliance, Paradigm and Grand Design next time I decide to shop for my next 5th wheel But right now we are still very happy with our Grand Design!

I've had a couple of leaks at flex connections. I discovered that a hose clamp (worm gear on a strap) can be placed just after the pex crimp to solve/prevent leaks. It seems to form a longer contact between the fitting and the flex. Those hoses seem to balloon out some and this stops it.

Haven't had to use them yet, but bought these for the day braid to pex fitting leaks.
