Full timing I typically dump every 3-4 days while on sewer connection. If my toilet begins to burp (bubble coming up from below) I know my black tank is really full. Shower backs up, it's either time to clean the hair out of the drain or dump, usually dump. If suds start coming out of the other side of the sink when I drain the dishwater it's time to dump.

I am also a believer in leaving the gates closed and allowing the water to build up in the tank and then dumping. I believe the extra pressure of more water tends to get the stuff off the bottom more effectively.

I rinse the black tank about once a month.

Question - do you use the external hose flush connection to the black tank after dumping to clean the tank? If not you could have a solids pile build up that did not drain out. Not to rock the boat (but needed if sitting long) is add 1/2 cup Dawn diluted in a gallon of water down the toilet. Then with you stabilizers off rock the trailer form side to side for a few minutes. This should break things up. I also use the Dawn in a pre charge of about 5 gallons to help prevent the pile formation and break thing up better

For my old unit I had a spray wand you put down the toilet. Not the most fun I have had - just remember to turn it off before pulling out of the tank

    Just trying to help.

You get to know by the "sound of the flush", when the black is getting close to full.

I tried to get the dealer to fix the sensors when the unit was new. That didn't work and resulted in underbelly coroplast damage.
Then, when I rebuilt my plumbing system, I tried to fix the sensors. That didn't work.
Things that don't work, bother me. So, I never press the tank level buttons .

    Try the SeeLevel systems..

    https://www.garnetinstruments.com/rv-shop/

    It's quite ingenious..
    Not easy to install..
Traditional level sensors have been the same for decades..
And they have worked just as reliably just the same for decades..
For someone really experienced with their tanks,
they usually don't bother or need to see a tank level..
So these traditional sensors not working doesn't matter much..
But for people fairly new to RVing seeing a tank level is comforting..
    These sensors work..
    But they're not cheap,
nor are they easy to install..
You need access to one side of each tank..
    Some tanks that'll be easy..
    Some near impossible..

If you hear a splash then you can see the level looking down right ? Our control panel never shows black tank empty either.
We also had a smell like sewer gas after setting empty in storage for two weeks. I didn't treat the tank after emptying. The seal in the toilet held water in the bowl when camping and for two weeks in storage. So how can the smell get past the seal and water? The bathroom vent is always open with a Max Air cover.
While camping last weekend the smell returned so I closed the vent, don't know if that helped or not.

    Lol. We'll learn.

The toilet will "burp" when it is running out of space for the waste.

Drain problems can arise at any time and can be stressful to deal with. If a drain emergency happens, or if you want drain maintenance services, you need skilled and professional drains specialists to help you. But there are some normal issues you can deal by your own. If your drainage is running slow and you are looking it science one or two days you can easily clear it. Pour some water with high pressure inside the internal drain, this will flush the blockage particles in the pipe. Another is you can take a rod and insert it in to the drainage tap and clear the wast from there, this is the major cause found with drainage line problems.

The best thing is to prevent the blockage in the drainage pipe is to pour water regularly after 1-2 days, this will help you to push all the wast particles to the main sewer drainage. So, this is how you can clear out your drain and stay it clear for long time.

Still if you are suffering from drainage problems then you have to contact drainage specialist near you. Are you in London UK, then you can reach-out MR Drains, the most known Drainage specialist among Surrey, London, Berkshire and surrounding.
