Connecting large LP tank for extended use

We're putting our rig on an annual lease site and will use it off and on year round. I'd like to get a larger LP tank. Since I will never use the GD installed quick connect for a gas grill (GD put it on the driver's side of the rig ), I am thinking I could connect a larger external tank there. I would have to put a regulator on the tank.

Anyone else done this? Will it work as planned?

Is there a reason you don't just pick up and extension hose and run it off the trailer regulator?

We rented a large tank when I had Achilles Tendon surgery a while back, and couldn't carry propane tanks over the winter.

    We used a Marshall Excelsior ME422P adapter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and a 12' hose (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

The company that delivered the tank provided the regulator at that tank, and everything worked fine. It turned out that over a complete winter season, it cost less than me refilling the smaller tanks.

This also allows us to use a (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to hook up our Weber Q2200 for grilling.

Wintering in AZ, we saw lots of rigs with large tanks. I didn't _notice_ any hooked up this way. It would mean that you have a non-valved male connector on the end of your connection to your large tank, to plug into your external grill socket. I can't believe that would be approved by ANY code or regulatory body. What is the problem with having the company that will supply your tank and propane tie it in to your system the correct way?

Sorry, but I don't think this is a good idea.

That's probably the better solution. I would think this connector would allow that.

Same connector and hose I will use. Curious, what size tank did you use? Also, how many times did you have to fill it over the winter?

Our rig is in Myrtle Beach, SC so winters are not that bad. When we used the Solitude this past Jan and Feb there, we filled one of our 30lb tanks about every 4 days during the coldest temps. I'm thinking a 100 lb tank would last 2 weeks or so.

We rented a 420# cylinder, and were in the Salt Lake City area at the time. During the coldest temps (high below freezing) keeping the interior at 70F during the day we had to refill it once a month (about 70 gallons). The fill at the first of March carried it all the way through June.
