Suggestions for bed cover
We are looking at bed covers for the 2016 f-150 6 foot bed.
I originally thought a cap wold be best, but after falling into the YouTube rabbit hole, it appears there are strong arguments for a tonneau covers.
Anyone with experience using both? Why did you choose the one over the other?
We are leaving June 16 for South Dakota and would like to have something covering the bed when we put the generator in the back.
Thanks

I have been using a soft tonneau cover for a long time. I don't have experience with the cap but I know people who use them and they are very heavy to get off if you need to. I like the soft cover as it is easy and a 1 person job to put on and off.

I had this one installed on my new 2019 F150 with 6'7" bed. I absolutely love it. It works well, locks tight and doesn't seem to leak.

I'm pretty happy with our Retrax Pro MX. It's a metal retractable cover. The polymer cover would have been less $$ but since the truck can't fit in our garage and sits in the hot sun, the UV would likely eventually harm the polymer material. We've had the cover for a year and a half now, and it still looks like new. And being metal, it's as secure as anything with a lock can be.

I have the Retrax poly rolling bed cover and love it since 2004. It can be locked in any position. With the 5er on I move it to just forward of the hitch so stuff stays out of the weather. Then when unhooked just pull it to the back and lock everything up. When I get my next truck I will get another on. A whole lot easier than a cap which I had a long while back before the Retrax.

We have seen a lot of the Retrax covers...seem like they are versatile..
We had purchased a LOMAX diamond plate folding cover, but it arrived damaged so we returned it, opting for a refund with the idea of buying local to avoid shipping damage.

I have a Extang Trifecta. It folds into thirds when towing, and unfold it to cover the whole bed when unhooked. I am very happy with it.

We have a Truxedo Deuce which is a lockable soft cover. It does roll up to the back of the cab to be out of the way without having to remove it. What I like with this cover is about a 2 ft section by the cab can be opened to get to the front without having to open the whole top to get something out or put something in. We have also had a cap when we had a TT which does allow you to put larger things in the back and out of the weather. We really liked that also but we had no intentions of ever taking the cap off.

So you find the Retrax cover to be water tight when closed to keep stuff in the bed dry?
Thanks
