Drain it well before you put it away and you'll be fine. I swing my filter/hose in a circle like I'm in a rodeo or something to dry it out before putting it away. I use 1 a year.

Depends largely on the quality of your input water as well. We visit one campground in FL where I have to change the filter every 8 days or so. They use only well water and it is the stinkiest stuff before filtering, even though they treat it at their on prem plant.

Well water... I know it, well... ;-). When we moved into our current place, the first thing we did was add an iron/sulfur filter. The well water smelled like bloody farts.

It's much better now.
