We are newbies to the RV life, but have been riding motorcycles since 98. Started out when visiting Key West on vacation. Shopping downtown one day walked into a small Honda dealership. Next thing we know, DH drove home on our new Honda Shadow (650). Few years later, we upgraded to a Honda Ace Tourer; HD Roadking came next, and finally a 2009 CVO Road Glide. Have taken several trips even back to the Keys (didn't buy a bike that time though). Blue Ridge Parkway, Kentucky Bourbon Trail, etc. We currently live within an hour of the famous Dragon's Tail. Since we're new to the RV life, we do not have a TH yet, but that may be a possibility if we end up enjoying the RV life as much as we've been told we will.

Started out on dirt bikes pretty young. Got my MC license on my 15th birthday, I'm 54 now. I now have a Kawasaki klx250 for exploring off road and a Yamaha FZ-09 for the street. I have owned all the Jap brands from standards to full blown crotch rockets and a couple Ducati's which I loved but my old body can't tolerate the riding position anymore. I still like a mean nasty bike though and the Yamaha fits the bill. Upright position and I can ride it for hours. It is one of the most brutal bikes I have owned. Love it, love it. The front tire gets many frequent flyer miles.

I had ridden (mostly Gold Wing) as a hobby, as well as to and from work, for a few decades, but when I retired, we got so involved with camping that the bike sat in the garage... sold it (like new and loaded 2012 GL1800 w/ ~13,000 miles) to a gentleman from TN just over a year ago. While there are a few times I miss riding, the fact that I rode less than 500 miles on it last full year told me something.

When I was an Instructor with Sportbike Track Time, we did three weekends every year at NCM. Out of all of the tracks that I've ridden, NCM is my favorite. It has everything....blind corners, elevation changes, fast front straight, high speed sweeper (T6), off camber slow corner, everything a track rider would want. You mentioned that Barber was on your bucket list....you really need to do it. If I'm not mistaken, they just resurfaced it last week. It will be the MOST beautiful track you'll probably ever go to. I've logged over 10,000 miles on that track alone. Oh, and make sure when you go, plan an extra full day to tour the museum. Something like 500,000 sq. ft. off completely restored motorcycles of every brand and model you can imagine. It's worth the trip even if you didn't ride the track....but do ride the track of course. It's basically a world class road course sitting in the middle of 800 acres of the most beautiful park you've ever seen.

I'm more back road and/or trail rider, although I also have a Yamaha Road Star Silverado 1600 with sidecar. I spend most of my time horsing around on a Kawaski KLR650 or Yamaha TW200. Within the last few years got into trying to wheelie that little Yamaha TW200.

Well, a little update to my motorcycling life. I posted in a much earlier thread that I've been riding since 1971, some form of motorcycle, dirt bike, etc. So, since 2013, and after having ridden sportbikes for years and years, I bought an FZ09.......
That has been my go to bike for the last 6 1/2 years and I've enjoyed it a lot. My wife has an FZ07 and we've been talking about doing something different as we've both gotten older and both of us will be retired by the end of April. We are planning on doing some traveling and figured it would just be easier for both of us to be on one bike while we are sightseeing and taking in the beauty of our country. So, this is what we are getting the 28th of February.....a new toy for general riding and to ride two up while we take our trips to go camping in the Toy Hauler. So, here she is...........
It's obviously a Can Am Spyder......2019 RT Limited. This thing has a bunch of amenities on it and should be a very comfortable ride for the two of us. We are even considering taking our small dog along on some short rides if he doesn't go spastic. He's never been on a motorcycle ride before, but it's probably time to get him into it.........after all, his full name is Volentino Rossi........because as a Manchester Terrier, he is incredibly fast (they were cross bred with Whippets when the breed was started in the 1800s)........just as his namesake Valentino Rossi.......think MotoGP if you don't know who Valentino is!Last edited by xrated; 02-18-2020 at 06:35 PM.

Do you belong to the CVO owner's forum? I've been a moderator on that forum since 2003 and have been riding CVOs since then. I've been riding motorcycles since I was a teenager in the late 60s.
My current motorcycle is a 2013 CVO Ultra Classic and I've been all over the nation on it. I've also rode in Canada and Mexico. I really like the long distance touring and have rode ocean to ocean on the back roads of America. The back roads is where you really get to see this country.
Here's a link to many of the rides (photo ride reports) that I've organized for the CVO owners group here in the west (and the CVO owners forum)...... https://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=77699.0SOLD my 2017 Momentum 376TH being pulled by a 2014 Ford F-350 Lariat, FX-4, Crew Cab, Longbed, Dually.
