Yes - Another Bsaement Mod Thread. 337RLS This Time
I thought for sure there was one Basement Mod/DIY thread on here, but I can't find it. So humor me.
I had a few goals in mind with this Mod:
a) I wanted to relocate power and TV cable to the basement front wall in anticipation of mounting a TV on a slide out mount to that wall
b) I was tired of that black carpet on the basement floor that acts like Velcro when any dirt or debris gets on it because you can't ever seem to vacuum it clean
c) I wanted to reclaim some unused space under the step area to house the converter and an EMS
d) I wanted to try and gain some storage space if at all possible
e) I wanted to tidy up the wiring spaghetti and adjust the remote valve cable routing for a more positive action
f) I wanted some kinda door for ease of access/inspection behind the basement wall
So without further adieu.....here's some before shots.
And here's some shots of the cable TV and power relocation.

I did some rebracing under the steps and relocated the converter there. Not shown is the new power cable that I routed into this area so when I do the EMS install it will be a simple matter of disconnecting the wires from the splices and attaching them to the EMS.
The next challenge was to see if I could gain some space by moving the rear basement wall. That could only be done by re-framing the supporting framing and moving it back. Besides, I had a wild hair idea for the rear basement wall. Patience, patience......I'll get to that.

Next came ripping out the Velcro carpet and laying down the matching vinyl (which I got from GD) and I used some aluminum angle for edge protection.
BTW - I still have a decent size piece of that vinyl I'll give to anyone that wants it. You just pay shipping.
Then came the hard part - the fabrication of the diamond plate wall with hinged door. Oh and I also installed a MorRyde cord set reel. That thing was worth every penny. Anyhow....the shiny-ness of the diamond plate really makes the basement bright. The downside is my OCD kicks in every time I see a figure print. LMAO....

You say that as a joke, but there's a part of me that wouldn't mind doing stuff like this for folks - especially now that I've made all the mistakes and know not to do that again!! Not sure folks would like the part of the contract that stipulates, "The undersigned acknowledges that they fully understand that they are contracting with an Engineer. And as such, said Engineer, will be done when they say they're done." HAHAHAHAHA............
Seriously though, I do get an enormous amount of self satisfaction out of not just the finished results, but crafting solutions.
