Dimmer Switch Installation on Cabin and Awning Lights on 303RLS

Second mod wife and I completed yesterday was addition of dimmer switches to our main cabin and awning lights. We find the cabin lights to be too bright in the evenings while we're watching TV or a movie. The awning lights are so bright we don't turn them on very long if we've got a neighbor in the next campsite, especially if we'll be out of the camper after 10 pm.

I used this dimmer on both switches.

This video on Youtube is fairly helpful but there are differences on the wiring between what is shown for an Inspiration trailer and my Reflection 303RLS.

I did procure two 3d printed adapters from the person who did the video - Marty Robinson. The adapters, plus shipping were $14 total. Marty's contact info is [email protected].

As shown in the video, first thing is to remove the cover plate on the panel. I used a flat head screwdriver and took my time. I found prying from the inside was more effective than the outside. Removing the screws after that is straight-forward. Unfortunately, instead of finding a black and red wire as in the video, the two connections on the main cabin lights were both half red and half white (top in photo with blue connector ends). Same for the awning lights just below except both were half pink and half white on top and bottom. So, had to use the multi-meter to determine 12 v versus ground/common. For my camper, the top connections for both were 12 v, the bottom connections were ground/common. Removal of the switches was simple per the video as was snapping in the 3d printed adapters. Connection of the new switches per the video was also straight-forward. Check correct switch operation before re-installing the panel.

No issues with the control panel door closing even though the new switches stick out a fair amount more than the OEM switches.

I did this about two weeks ago and we got to test it last week on out trip. All worked well, but I noticed that if both are on I get flicker. Did you notice any?

I didn't try them at the same time. Will do so next time I'm at the camper and report back.

I did the same mod, to the awning lights, master bedroom and main living area. I noticed a flicker if I crank the dimmer all the way on. It seems like at 3/4 of a turn I hit full brightness and that's as far as I need to go. I only notice the flicker on the interior lights though... I'm not an electrician/electrical engineer so that one kind of baffles me.
