    Ram 1500 and Imagine 2250RK

    Hi All,
We have a Ram 1500 (5.7l and 3.95 axle) and are considering to buy an Imagine 2250RK. When looking at the numbers it seems like we're pushing the limits or our truck.
Per RAM website, max payload of our truck is 1520 lbs and max towing capacity 10220 lbs. But the decal in the door of the vehicle indicates "the combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 1106 lb"Click image for larger version.

Dry weight of the 2250RK is 5497 lbs, Gross = 6995 lbs and hitch weight is 515 lbs.

Has someone any experience of hauling the 2250RK with a simalar truck?
    Any advise?
    Thanks!

    Hi Christa & TJ,
From what I've noticed, GD listed hitch weights are on the light side. My 2250RK is 1000 lbs and my relatives is 900 lbs with very little fresh water on board. At first I towed with an F150 that had more payload than your RAM and after going to a scale and weighing everything I had 50 pounds of payload left in the bed of the truck. A box or two of firewood or a 2000 W Honda generator will eat that up. My guess is that you will be overloaded, you can do some suspension and tire mods that will help the trucks handling when towing but that payload sticker doesn't change in the eyes of the court system. The best thing to do is get the truck weighed full of fuel and loaded the way you would use it on a trip including the weight distribution hitch (if you have it yet) then add the tongue weight of the trailer (800-1000 lbs) do the math and decide what your comfort level is, good luck! Christa and TJ,
I have a RAM 1500 5.7, 3.21 axle, so towing capacity is only about 8500. Had my new 2250RK out twice so far and no problems towing the weight. Got a little porpoising at first when empty but noticed having 1/3 tank of fresh water added tongue weight and dampened the porpoise some. I then increased the tension on the stabilizer/sway bars and the porpoise went away completely. I haven't weighed any cargo but I think I loaded the TT with about 1000-1500 lbs of food, clothes. and supplies. The truck had two people and a large cooler of ice and drinks. Nothing in the bed. No problems towing up the Sierras from Sacramento or over the coast range to the beach. The truck did 55-60 mph up some steep grades at about 4000 rpm. At 95 degrees outside temp the oil temp maxed out at 245 F, and the transmission and coolant about 220 F.

You apparently have a high trim level Ram. The more goodies you have ON your truck, the less you can put IN you truck.
You will probably be overloaded. The tongue weight will be in the 750 range, maybe higher loaded. You might be better off looking at the Imagine xls line.
