I would stay off of the million dollar highway pulling your trailer with a 1/2 ton truck. It is a beautiful drive but you may get into trouble with your brakes unless you have upgraded them and are really confident. Good luck!

I’d agree with others who said skip 550. While very scenic, and something to be seen, if you don’t have to take it in an RV save it for a leisurly drive in your truck sans the RV. If you do take it you won’t be sightseeing as you’ll be quite busy navigating.

I’d suggest if your primary mission is to get to the GC then just take I70 to US191 to US160 to 64 into the south rim and be done with it. If you haven’t been out West you’ll get to climb up I70 and experience the Eisenhower Tunnel and see some neat western scenes along US191 & US160 including Monument Valley.

If you want something different try US285 out of Denver to US160. An alternative could be I25 south out of Denver to US160 west.

Thank all of you for your insight on our travel route. I think our best option will be to take the route traveldawg suggested via I70 to US191 to US160 to 64. This will be my our first trip that far west and will save the scenic route for another time
Thank you all again and safe travels!
