Problem with Retracting Awning
I think the awning on my 337 is not retracting properly/all the way against the trailer.
Photos (hopefully) attached below.
At the PDI, I mentioned it to the dealer and they said it was "normal."
When I took it back to the dealer for the first time for some warranty issues,
I raised the problem again. The Service Advisor readily agreed that it was
not retracting all the way. Then the service techs and shop foreman told
me that this is "normal."
I have not had a chance to look at other awnings on Reflections to verify this "normal" claim.
I remain convinced that the outer arms should fold up more into the inner arms against
the trailer, and that there should not be this much fabric flapping in the wind when it is
in the retracted position.
What can you tell me? The photos are of the awning in the retracted position.

This is normal, as confirmed by Grand Design and Lippert at the Rally.
I also asked this question on here and my pictures look the same as yours.
It is the design of the head on the awning arm that causes this.

Thanks for the reply. I had searched the forum for previous posts but was directed to all the
problems with the anchor strip coming loose. I found your previous post, Lostincanada, and
you're right - yours looks the same as mine.
I'll just keep an eye on it. Still doesn't seem right to me.
But I guess it's another one like the A/C thermostat "AUTO" setting
which is not really AUTO. (Sigh)
Thanks again!Ken & Wilma

Ken,
We have a 369. The pictures you posted are not normal for us. The supports retract completely over the bracket that is attached to the trailer. If I were you I woulld keep pushing the issue.
I think you can see how the frame is against the trailer in the gallery pictures on the Grand Design website.John and Lisa

Differnt awning on the Reflections and Solitude. The LCI solera awning does indeed not close flush with the side of the trailer as all the other manufacturers awnings do. Not saying I like it, but did confirm it is as intended.

Looks just like our 337 as well. Sometimes it wrinkles a bit the last couple feet when you roll it up. I stop retracting it when the frames touch so it doesn't put too much stress on the mounting rivots where it attaches to the coach.

Yep, same with my 337. Personally, I think it's a poor design. I examined it pretty closely, and there are some pivot points about half way up the arm that actually come in contact before the head can fully retract.

All the LCI awnings are the same way, no matter what trailer they are attached to.
Our Keystone Sprinters use them, and they are the same way.Steve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com
