Buckhorn Lake RV Resort - Kerrville

My wife and I took our shake out trip on our new 2930 to Buckhorn Lake RV Resort in Kerrville. It's a 45 minute drive from where we live in Boerne. I would give Buckhorn Lake a five star rating. All the RV pads are concrete. Each space has a picnic table and nicely manicured grass. The entire place is clean and well kept. The WiFi was too slow to stream Netflix or Amazon Prime. Few of the spaces are shaded with trees. There were a lot of Grand Design RV's parked. It also looks like a destination for winter Texans. Overall, a great place to overnight or stay a few days.

We have stayed at Buckhorn several times as a long time friend has wintered there for over 10 years and we stop for a couple days to visit on the way to/from ME to AZ. It is a nice campground. Clean and very well kept. The sites are a little tight for the premium price paid ($45.90 with good sam discount - $51 without for pull thru). This years price increase was just a little too over the top so when visiting our friend, we stayed at the KOA just down the street. I got a free 1 year KOA membership with my GD purchase in FEB. Normally I try to stay away from KOA as they are too pricey. But the Kerrville KOA beat Buckhorn by almost $10 a night. We had a very nice site with shade and their onsite fuel and propane prices were actually reasonable. Staff was friendly and welcoming too.

I really can't say anything bad about Buckhorn, but as we travel east/west we sometimes get campgrounds as cheap as $12/night FHU with Passport America so paying near $50 a night just doesn't cut it. I think the Kerrville KOA ended up being about $36 with my KOA card.
    Cheers,

    Don

I ran by the KOA one morning and it looked really nice. It is farther from I-10 which makes it quieter.
