New RV should i have dealer install Ceramic coating treatment?
Picking up my new Reflection 337RLS on Saturday and i'm skeptical of the Protective ceramic coating treatment offered for the fiberglass exterior. I kind of feel that if it were important it would come with it from the factory and not as a money grab at the final sales push.
Is this some thing that you guys have done? wish you hadn't? Wish you would have?
Just looking for some experienced opinions. Thanks Everyone.Jason (& Christina)

My opinion is that eventually it’s a nice add to your rig. I personally don’t have it and my son owns a high end detail business where one of his specialties is ceramic coatings. He told me that because we keep our RV in covered storage when not in use he thought the only way lace he would put some was on the front cap. I haven’t even done that. I just wash and put a coat of Banana Shine on once a year. While on the road I use Eco Shine Waterless wash for both the truck and RV and use Bug Off on the front cap and truck. All at his suggestion from a company called shinesupply.com.

The factory isn't going to do it because it would be another step and cut into their profits. I certainly wouldn't pay a dealer to do it, you would think with the kind of money being spent they would do SOMETHING like that as part of the delivery prep. Don't know that much about it but some reviews I have read indicate it doesn't last as long as the hype indicated. I would check some reviews.

I avoided it, primarily because it is just another way for the dealer to squeeze $$ out of you. But, if you can get them to include it for the same purchase price.....
Here's one discussion about whether it is a good idea or not for vehicles. Seems to me the care and feeding is not optimal for what our RV's go through. Washing and waxing seems to be a better choice...

Ceramic coating, extended warranty, and Scotchgard are all high profit products for car and RV dealers. A coworker bought a ceramic coating kit off ebay for about 1/20 what the dealer was asking.

Well tomorrow is the day. Sounds like I’ll be better off doing it later on when I have better control over what’s going on with the coach.
Thanks for the opinions everyone!

Put the money towards waxing it every year and use the rest to fund some beverages while you watch the guy do it.

I coated my 303 with ceramic myself. Check out “Evershield” at Aircraft Spruce dot com. A little goes a long long way.
It’s only been on for a year so the jury is still out. So far its good.

I've never opted for the coating on any of my vehicles, my friend had his Redwood 5th wheel treated by the RV dealer, the sides faded bad in a short period. This treatment came with a warranty that proved useless as neither the dealer or the coating mfg. would take care of it. He had it repaint on his own dime.
