I guess we're the odd couple. Since the RV is our home away from home, we went to a real live, brick and mortar mattress store where we could lay on several different mattresses and chose the one we liked. Believe it or not, the mattress store was even having a sale! We tried the topper in our previous Springdale and it was um, okay. We decided this time we weren't going to scrimp. I might also add that we're very picky about our bed. We could care less what others find comfy or what the internet reviews say. It has to be comfy to us, and we like it a bit on the firm side. I hate sinking into a foam mattress, I feel like I'm stuck and can't move around or reposition. YMMV

Too many stories about it being normal for memory foam to actually form dips/depressions that are up to 1.5" deep is deemed okay by the manufacturers....plus the laying in quicksand feeling of memory foam was a no go for me. I went Dunlop Latex with interchangeable layers. Not cheap but no chemical smell. Will last longer then the rv! LOL
Botanical Bliss by Plush Beds. Started out with a medium configuration and wanted a little softer on my side. Company sent out a split queen 2" thick so i could add a softer piece on my side and the other was medium. So i actually went from a 9" to 11" I can still customize it.....here is how we have it set up
Med. (entire top) 2"
Med.(1 side) Soft (other side) (second layer) this is the split layer 2"
Med Firm (entire level) 2"
Firm (entire level) 3"
Bed wrapped in a 1" thick wool (1" top and 1" bottom) gives the 11"Last edited by Jims94vmx; 06-29-2019 at 10:22 AM. Reason: making it clearer

I can't imagine NOT changing the mattress out. It's excruciating shopping with my wife, so she gets to pick the new one. I can live with whatever she chooses as long as she's happy and I don't have to go to every sleep store within 75 miles.

Since everyone's feel for a mattress is different and most RV's now have residential sized beds, folks should get what the use at home if it gives them the most comfort.

Another vote for NECTAR mattress. We had replaced our home pillow top mattress months before with a NECTAR and fell in love with it, it sleeps great. My wife was the one that thought of replacing the camper mattress with a NECTAR because it sleeps so well and is light weight. You can also get to the stuff under the bed with no more effort than the stock mattress with the topper we had on it. One thing we did do was to take a cheap sheet and cover the plywood so the NECTAR would slide on it without catching on the plywood. I would imagine any quality box mattress like the NECTAR, LEESA, Casper, ETC would work just as well. I like the NECTAR because it can be laid directly on plywood and is also advertised for RV use. Some of the foam mattresses don't recommend placing them directly on plywood due to moisture buildup.
