In the original post, he mentions that he doesn't want to tow in the mountains so a transmission cooler isn't needed. Then mentions he may go from Florida to Northern Illinois. Florida is flat. Northern Illinois is flat. In between: not so much.

    Time to eat some crow.

weighed my 2018 F150 Lariat, crewcab, 6 1/2 bed, max towing, 3.5 Ecoboost. Surprise. Listed "curb weight" on door sticker #4946 . Actual with usual load 2 average adults, SlideRite 2700, and 30 gal gas ==> #6220 Front #3460 , Rear # 2760.

As stated I have about 8000 miles with our 303RLS. Plenty of power for hills and great transmission for decent. Rarely used brakes on 6% grades.

Given these numbers, even if you use axle rating of #3800 , I am way overweight. I believe any of the "150 series" would be as well with the way most people overload. We travel very light as we tented for years.

Looking for upgrade. The dealer says my 1976 Ford Pinto will do the job as long as I go downhill and do not try to brake.

Holy smokes, your towing a non 150 series fifth on a non heavy duty f150?
Curious, how much does it squat without the airbags? By my math, you are likely approaching 1500lbs overload on the payload.
