    Tow vehicle recommendation

wanting to buy a GD2800BH, great floorplan for the family. want to tow it with a Ford F150 V8. dont want to break the bank with a Ford F250 or higher..

just recommendation for towing package and gear for using an F150 V8 if its feasable driving down the road.

or perhaps what other truck compatible to the Ford F150 v8

I'm towing my 2019 2800bh with my 2018 Silverado, 1500. I've added LT tires, airbags and a tune and I am impressed with how it handles.

If I was to do it over, I think I'd go with a 2500. Seems like everyone says I'd be happier while towing with a heavier truck.

I know you said you don't want to break the bank, but I got F250 6.2 gas for $40,000, see my signature. For me going from a F150 to a 250 made a huge difference in towing. That price is in the same range as the f150

If you are set on a 1/2 ton I would recommend getting as much payload/ towing capacity as possible. The issue I encountered was when we wanted to upgrade the TT, a 1/2 ton wasn't enough truck. That's why I went with a 1 ton dually. It pulls the 37' Reflection with ease and if we ever want a large 5th wheel the truck is capable.

Check out the Nissan Titan XD. It's been designed for towing. Probably the most capable 1/2 towing truck on the market. It is longer, heavier, larger frame, larger brakes, and has v8 gas or diesel options. One downside is the payload numbers. Because the truck is so heavy (good for towing) payload numbers suffer. But you get a half ton comfort with many 3/4 ton features.

2 more benefits - 100,000 mile, 5 year bumper to bumper warranty and aggressive pricing trying to break into the full-size market. No I'm not a salesman. Just did my research before buying one... 😁

Toyota Tundra, its been doing that since 2007. Proven platform that is designed to tow 10,000 lbs all day long. Already has the gearing, larger brakes and all the extra coolers installed.
That being said, any diesel will have more torque which of course = you don't know its back there. If you go diesel, go for the 1 ton.
If I knew 7 years ago I would be pulling a camper, would have purchased a 1 ton and would have a much bigger camper (toy hauler). Your just not as limited.
A new truck was not in my budget and I worked worked with what I had. Purchased a 295rl 150 series and have no regrets.

I have a 2018 Silverado 1500 with a 6.2l and the towing package and have had no issues pulling my 2800bh. I've towed everywhere from the prairies to the mountains over the last two years - just make sure you get a good weight distribution hitch with sway control (and have it properly set-up).

Tundra's are good trucks just a little light on payload.

By the way, I have an 10,000 lb rated Equalizer weight distribution/ sway control hitch I used for about 2500 miles. Great hitch but I upgraded to a heavier model when I bought the 312. Not sure where you are but I'll take $200.

Being partial to GM trucks I would look at the 2020 models which will handle the 2800BH with ease. Especially the 6.2L which will be my next choice.
