No info on those campgrounds. Going in we stayed in Hill City at Rafter J Bar Ranch, the crappy KOA in Cody and inside Yellowstone at Fishing Bridge (closed this season).

Have stayed many times at the KOA in Billings. It is okay, on the Yellowstone river with some nice patios and fire pits. Not far from Cabela's, Sam's club and Costco (no sales tax). Have also stayed at Cody and got a really nice large site with a fence, patio and BBQ.

Much of the parks highways are not conducive to pull a 33' TT on so take care of which roads you take in the park. Many attractions to see in the park. I lived in Bozeman 80 miles away and visited the park 100s of times and stayed in the hotels there. Cody WY has a lot to see and it ia off the East Entrance to Yellow Stone Park

Thanks & love the info you get in this forum!

You really haven't given enough information. if you want Hookups or are dry camping. There are wonderful National forest campgrounds all along all three approaches to the park from the east. (Three?? I hear the sighs I am including entering through Dubois and Teton park) September is the absolute best time to visit the park. You will not have a problem finding a campground depending on your length and there are too many to list. I have lived around the park all my life. if I had never seen the park I would go through the NE entrance through Sunlight Basin (approx. 16 miles North of Cody) Don't miss the museum in Cody. If you have to have hookups from the east you will have to go into the park or there is one out of Cody called Yellowstone Valley Inn & RV. You could take the Bear tooth highway from Red Lodge but it is even steeper and not recommended for vehicles over 40'. The Lamar valley is where you will have the best chance of seeing wolves if that is your thing. Don't miss the grand canyon of the Yellowstone. Enjoy your Trip.

We are in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS and planning to leave for Yellowstone the end of August. We have reservations for 5 days at Rocky Mnt RV, Gardiner September 4-9th. We have a 36' TT Reflection. We where told they could accommodate us. Are the sites pretty small? Any info heading from the east and sites to see would be helpful. Thanks!

We will also stay another 5 days at Headwaters RV campground in Moran, WY just north of Jackson Hole to see the Gand Tetons and the southern part of Yellowstone. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

We just got back from a trip to Yellowstone from New Hampshire! It was a great trip. We pulled our Imagine out there and had axle trouble in Avoca, Iowa and then again in Cody, Wyoming on the way home. NOT fun, but we enjoyed the trailer and the scenery very much.
We kept calling the Park and finally got a site at Bridge Bay Campground from someone else cancelling in Yellowstone. We entered from the Tetons which was beautiful but VERY long. The price at Bridge Bay can’t be beat at $30/day but there are no hookups. We were fine for four days with the water we brought in, using paper plates and taking short showers. We have a generator and used that a few hours a day. There were lots of bison and elk but we had to return to NH to see a bear! The most beautiful place in the park to us was Yellowstone falls. Old Faithful was interesting and we took the 1.2 mile hike out to Morning Glory. The fly fishing was awesome, too.
Our advice would be to make sure your axle was not recalled before heading out. Wished we had been advised by our dealer, but we’re good to go now. Have a great trip!

DB: we just left that campground after a 5 day stay. It's a very nice park. They have all sizes of camp spots. We were fine with a 31ft 5er. Extremely close to the north entrance. No long lines to get in. Unlike the west entrance. We exited that way. Park entrance was 4 lanes wide and long. And then it immediately converges into 1 lane.

Go in between 630-700am, no crowds until about 10a. The crowd increases until about 1pm and then it's full saturation. First 2 days we did 7a-4p. That's much too long. Next 3 days we did 630/700a to 12/1p. Much nicer.

We would definitely stay at this cg again. Keep in mind the attractions are very far apart. Yellowstone is *BIG*. old faithful is a good one hour drive in from the north. We drove straight there, our farthest point, bypassing all the sights on the way, then wandered back stopping at the 2nd farthest from camp. This left close to camp sights for another day.

Try the Grizzly Bear Lodge and RV Park in West Yellowstone. They are right outside the West entrance. It is a really nice place. It is too late to get a spot inside the park. Good luck.
