There is a visitor center near the CG with all kinds of info and rangers. There is a gas station at Fishing Bridge. don't know if it has diesel but probably. We bought "Your Guide to the National Parks" by Michael Oswald to get park info.
Have a great trip.

Been to Yellowstone 5 times and always in September and never encountered crowds. Mid September is best time; give Labor Day visitors time to leave. Went one time late in September and had sleet and ice one morning but it went away quickly. Don't know about campgrounds; we usually flew into Bozeman MT and stayed in Gardiner at north gate.

This has been a really great post to read. Super informative! It has inspired me to find some time in our fall trip to fit in a few days at Yellowstone. We’d be looking at mid-September too.
Can anyone who stayed at Rainbow Point comment on the Verizon cell service there? I’d also be curious about any Verizon experience inside the park, but I know to expect it’ll be minimal.
If none, thanks to everyone anyway for all the experiences shared!2018 Reflection 28BH

I have a question for anyone who has stayed at Grant or Madison CG inside the park. I made reservations for 2020 back in May and they stated there is a max length for trailers, in the back in sites, of 30 ft with additional room for the tow vehicle. I had a Reflection MK273 on order and the brochure stated it is 29'11". It's close but I felt good.
After picking up the trailer I find that it's actually 30"6" overall. I hope this is going to work!
I'm wondering if the sites are actually 30' exactly or can you gain a little by letting the back of the trailer hang over the rear stops? The reservation folks only can state 30' and know nothing beyond that. any help appreciated.
