I like having pressure on the black flush hose while connecting and disconnecting, it gives me a better feeling that nothing is going to flow back into the fresh water system. It may be overkill but it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
I think we have the same system and my terminology was lacking

I’m so careful about my water that, not only do I carry and use two separate hoses, and never the two will meet (or be confused with one-another), I carry a small spray bottle of alcohol and spray down the fittings before hooking up. After the spray-down, I hook up at the faucet first, then run some water through the hose, ensuring that anything that may have been in the water line prior to the faucet is flushed out.

I also keep each one of my hoses hooked together at the ends, so nothing can climb inside while they are stored away.

Lastly, I carry a spare fresh-water hose, for use as a back-up, or an extension, if needed. I’ve only needed it once, but it was sure nice to have.

The spray bottle was about a dollar, at Walmart, and a quart of alcohol was less than five. I just refill the spray bottle from time to time.

Many years of RV experience, and never had an issue. What’s a few extra minutes, in the big picture? Nothing less is worth the worry, for me. Enjoying RVing is all about being as worry-free as possible.

Bacteria grows and travels best in moisture and warmth. When in storage between trips, it's a perfect setup for bacteria to travel. I personally would never mix black tank anything with any other water source. Even if the risk is low, the result could be devastating to anyone infected. Talking Cdiff (Clostridium difficile) among other bacterias.

I just thread the female end of the fresh water one down through the opening in the bottom when at a camp site with water, and hook up the supply hose and pressure regulator to the leader hose outside of the compartment. When done, I just let them hang outside of the compartment for about 10 minutes to drain any residual water out, and then put them back in and shut the door

I ordered these exact hose extensions and installed them yesterday. What a terrific idea!

I ordered the 3’ extensions from amazon mentioned in previous post. I received them today. They are the Flexilla hoses. I’d like to point out that the packaging states they contain lead which makes them not safe for drinking water. Therefore I ordered camco drinking water safe extensions. Those of you who are using the Flexilla hoses might want to reconsider.

Where are you seeing that? Picture?

My package said "Drinking Water Safe" and said nothing about lead. The Amazon product page says "lead free" though. Here's the exact some hose from Home Depot:

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Flexzill...03YW/304983405

Under the specifications tab, it says it's lead free. Most of the lead in garden hoses comes from the use of brass fittings and ends. The ends on this hose are black anodized aluminum.

My mistake about Flexilla. It is drinking water safe just as it states on the packaging. Think I had a brain freeze. I’ve installed them and they work great. I apologize for my mistake.
