Plastic bypass valve leaked on hot water tank bypass

Well while summerizing my Imagine 2800BH after getting it back from the dealer (after axle swap but still waiting for heavier springs) I thankfully noticed a trickle of water behind the outdoor stove. Sure enough, good puddle inside the trailer.

Checked all around the hot water tank and found that one of the black plastic valves had a leak on the body itself (the rear of the valve, appears to be a plastic cover that is glued in after assembly). Slow leak but enough to make a mess.

Oh finally the joy of starting to rebuild my entire plumbing system like everyone else *ugh*. Thankfully GD used real PEX around the tank so repair would be easy. Went to Home Depot to pickup the tool, clamps and parts (brass valve this time).

    Todays project after work...

Likely going to add that Honeywell leak detector back in there too.

Got everything switched over without too much drama thanks to HomeDepot. I also now have a complete spares kit to fix any future leaks which I’m sure will happen until everything is switched over to full Pex and Brass.

    Old and the new:

I was was surprised how easy those Pex clamps were to work with. Just wish I had a smaller tool or Milwaukee to make one to get in those tight spaces. Sometimes you have to pull most of it out just to get that one hard to reach clamp and then install and finish.

While I was in there I decided to install my Hot / Cold water sprayer for the rear as it only comes with cold from the factory and since the hot water tank is only a few inches away, should be an easy mod.

    (Or this one)

I now understand what people mean about the soft hose mixed with the Pex... MAN what a nightmare trying to get a 1/2 inch Pex clamp over that damn soft hose... it’s too large. That was a joy I think I’d like to avoid next time... I swear it will swell and leak so eventually I’ll replace those with Pex.

Worked out good in the end, camping this weekend so will be able to test it out.

I also picked up the Honeywell leak detector... I’ve had enough of this lol.

    Cheers

just noticed the same thing on mine! dripping out of the back of the valve. what I want to know is how you got access to it? seems to me like you would have to take everything apart? sink, countertop, etc? Any good feedback for me? good news is I have all the pex tools to do the work just don't know how to access
