    Automatic TV system?

This may seem like a silly question ,but I can not get an answer from my dealer. Other than you can do it manually ( but they can't tell me how).

What if the automatic system that runs the TV up and down in some of the GD campers breaks? How can you raise it up or lower it by hand.
Can it be done in a manual mode? I can't seem to find any information on this. I get the feeling I'm missing something simple.

Yes it comes up out of the cabinet behind the fireplace. I was told it can be done, but not how. I'm thinking the dealship has misinformed me.
I have yet to find a way to make it go up or down in a manual mode. I get the feeling one would have to rip the entire fireplace and cabinet out to get at it and fix it if it were to break.
My hope is I'm wrong and it is a easy thing to work around till one can get the parts to fix whatever has broken.

I would think if the TV was stuck in the up position you could just unbolt it from the mount and access the motor that way. If it's stuck in the down position I would then just trade in the trailer for a new one lol.

Well I guess that is the answer. Trade the camper in on another one. Yepper.
I did get a few links from another place. Not of much help but they do lead me down the right path.
    Asking GD should also help.

Your links are giving me “page not found” errors.

Are you having a problem or hypothesizing? If my lift stopped working I’d take out the fireplace and replace the lift motor. Or find a way to turn from above the long vertical screw that does the lifting until I could remove the TV from the lift and then work on replacing the motor or the entire lift.

I'm hypothesizing. When I saw how hard it would be to replace or fix the TV and or lift I started asking and did not get an answer.

The TV comes off very easy - loosen 4 mounting screws holding it to the lift.

While I haven't pulled the fireplace out of my RV I've done it on others to access things behind it. It isn't hard. You might want to google how to remove it as it should be the simplest way to access the lift system.

A bigger question might be ...what happens when you loose electric with it up? ....or.... what happens if you loose electric with it up and the recliner in the out position? yikes!!

Seems like in some cases Grand Design’s design is not so grand. The rising from the cabinet TV is similar to the slide mechanisms that break, no way to disable the non working motors and manually crank to safely store until you can get to professional help.

traveldawg your really putting the scare into me with the recliner breaking down.
Really it is just a simple question about how or if it can be done manually at all.
The answer is no and that makes for a poor design ( Not So Grand ) .

Skiddy I did not know this about the slide outs. My campers from the past have had a way to get them back in.
Well hope my slides never break.

As I get older it gets harder to crawl around under campers and in tight places.
So I always look at how to fix things on campers now days. Why wait till it breaks ? What will it take and how much effort and the simplest solution.
Have been stuck fixing things on them enough times that's for sure.

Silly me what was I thinking buying another camper ?
