Imagine XLS 21BHE versus NEW 2020 Imagine XLS 20BHE

    Hey all,

Just looking for feedback via those who know Grand Design Imagine XLS's somewhat well. We are torn between the 21BHE and the NEW 20BHE (The 2020 version with the Murphy Bed that converts to a couch/dinette)

Here's where we are. We are currently a pop-up family. This is a travel trailer that will end up on a seasonal site. Our site, while beautiful, is small. Our max length is 25 feet. Thus - we are looking for what gives us the most room for our little family (two adults, two kids, 4 and 6). We definitely need the bunks for the boys.

The new 20BHE with the murphy bed slide-out seems like it MIGHT give the illusion of more space and a touch of privacy for the adults.

However, the 21BHE is technically longer, has the double over double bunks.

    I'm entirely torn.

There don’t seem to be many (any?) active 20BHE or 19BWE owners here just yet. I constantly ponder downsizing into one of these units but have yet to visit a dealership. The 20BHE has some real open-space at the back and might have nicer viewing windows if the scenery at your site is behind the unit. The 21BHE has the nice outdoor kitchen, a permanent dinette, and the absence of a slide does eliminate some complexity. It is a difficult call.

And the issue for us is the scenery is definitely in the FRONT of us. The larger front facing windows on the 21bhe definitely win in that regard!

You might also look at the Rockwood mini-lite units. Several of them have big front windows when the Murphy bed is down.

That's where we started our search. We had settled on a 2306 Mini Lite - unfortunately, none close enough to us, and they are no longer taking orders because they're discontinuing the models :-(

That's too bad. Well the other small trailers I can think of are likely too small for you and they have really limited storage. Good luck! Let us know what you eventually do and how you like it.

19BWE owner here. I absolutely love this camper, but if you're looking for a view, you'll need to go outside. Ha!

There is very limited view of the outside world from within the confines of the 19BWE.
