    Momentum 320G

    Hi,

Looking for any 320G owners and what they’re pulling with. I have a 2017 F350 crew cab KR with the 6.7 PSD and SRW. We’re down to either the 320G or 350G as our next trailer.

I’ve run the numbers and while I’m within the limits, I’ve learned towing a 33 travel trailer with an F150 what is within limits doesn’t correlate to comfort or handling.

Any input from 320G owners is appreciated!

Currently pulling our 320g with 2008 Ram 2500 6.7 diesel, quad cab 4x4 shortbox. May need an upgrade if we ever add a toy!

We have the same truck and 320G. We also came from a 33 ft travel trailer and ecoboost 150. We also run air bags, cushioned pin box and an auto slider. Slider is s must. Too many close calls with standard hitch. I second the last comment. No toys here. I find comfort correlates to weight behind the axle regardless of all the cushioning baubles. Not enough data yet driving however I believe there is a sweet spot you can find playing with filling fuel and water behind the axle. If I could of done a dually I would. Just too much truck for daily driving in urban areas for us.

We got our 320G back in July. Without Toys and with Water it is okay, but with Water and all the Dirt Bikes I get a ton of sway and a few white knuckle moments on the downhills. Tow rig is a '19 F350 CCLB. I've since upgraded Air Bags, HD Sway Bars F/R and still get it.

Finally took it to the CAT scales on my way to NV last week and we were at 2,480 Pin (only 14.7%) 14,340 Axles (340 over) for a Gross of 16,820 (20 over). I was 1 Dirtbike short this trip (250 lbs) and a few extras up front so I'd normally be heavier and more back weight.

Grand Design has told me to travel without water, but we camp in BLM and other very out there spots where we are far from town and fill up spots. Bought a toy hauler to get away fron the city not camp in full hookups. LOL!

I'm currently looking at an F450 and/or another trailer? Seems the balance on this 320G is a bit light up front if you actually carry toys in it.

As in the description below, I pull my 320G with a '19 RAM 3500 SRW SB.

Not sure why they designed it as they did, as it really does have a light pin. I usually have one motorcycle in the back, and it weighs right around 500 lbs. This will give me a pin weight of around 2,600 lbs, even though I have the Onan generator. Because I have a short bed, I have the Reese Sidewinder pin box, which is about 160 lbs heavier than the stock one, which helps, and I now put about 20-25 gallons of water in the front grey tank to get my pin weight up to about 2,800 lbs. I am normally around 14,600 lbs trailer weight.

Chikenstiker, although a bigger truck, and dually will help some, the only way to get rid of that sway is a heavier pin. You may also consider the 8K lb axle upgrade. It will give you the weight capability, although not officially, as that has to be done on the production line (trailer with the 8K axle has a 18K GVWR).

Note: The water I put in my grey tank for traveling is fresh water, and I flush the tank prior. I have no problems dumping it when boondocking during setup.

Thanks for the notes on your setup!

So it seems I have 4 dirt bikes in the back so a bit more weight counter acting the Pin.

Adding water to the Grey is an idea, but 1) I feel like we shouldn't have to do that if the trailer was designed better, 2) feels like a waste of water during a drought, and 3) I can dump it most places I go, but many I'd end up with a muddy mess under my trailer then unless I run a hose out away and that hassle.

What is Payload on your truck? I'd assume 3000-3500 lbs and your pin of 2800 + people 400 + Hitch 200 + anything else you carry (tools, drinks, first aid, wood, ice chest, etc.) and you are over gross I'd assume?

My F350 has a payload of 32xx lbs, 2500 pin, 4 people, dog, ice chest (because I can't put it in my garage), tools, fuel for dirt bikes (because gas tank in trailer will make it more rear heavy), hitch and airbags and odds and ends and my truck was 800 over Gross...

It's just me, so not as much weight. My truck payload is 3750 lbs, and CAT scale with me, my junk, fuel (48 gallon aftermarket tank), and 5th hitch is 3360 payload. On the CAT scale with the trailer loaded, I am 800 under rear axle weight (7000 lbs max), and if I recall right, I was 500 under truck weight (11,800 lbs max). On one ton short bed trucks, RAM usually has 400-500 lbs better payload than Ford and Chevy.

My CCLB GVWR is 11,500. I was 400 under for rear axle and 650 under for front, but 850 over payload at 12,350.

Wondering how much a heavier truck (F450, F350 DRW) Would help? Still light on the Pin, but maybe the heavier truck takes it better so many don't notice?

I'm not sure I understand the question, but if it will help, here are the numbers for our 10-year-old F350 CC LB DRW 6.7:

Size:	52.8 KB

Weight ratings have only gone up for all three brands the past ten years, too. With 3,280 on the pin, the truck sits level without air bags or other assistance.
