Friend Request

Ok, I'm going to confess my ignorance. What is this other than a shout out and a thumbs up. Is there some other use for this? Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have friends but is there something I can use this for. Also, when I get a request I'm always afraid I'll mess up and tick off a potential friend.

It's an internet social networking thing. I thnik it was born on either facebook or the old my space , neither of which I've ever participated on. I've always looked at the "friends" thing as a popularity contest. I've developed friendships on the board or at rallies without it being listed in the friends list. Personally I feel labeling a friend on line serves no purpose. If you want to respond to friend requests, do, if not just ignore it but maybe a PM to the requester letting them know you don't do the friend game but will be glad to talk on line.
This is just my opinion, it's worth what you paid for it.
