Broken Lock
Hi all. Question. So one of my basement locks has broken and I can’t get in using a key. Is there a way to get past the lock, and replace it?
I was thinking of taking a flat head screw driver, forcing it into the lock, turning it, and once open taking off the lock to replace it.
Thoughts and advice is greatly appreciated!Iraq/Afghanistan Veteran - UMICH BBA, M.B.A.

So that is the little lock with the finger inside to catch on the door frame?
If so a screw driver should turn the whole thing, just be careful not to damage the outside paint.
If it is a slam latch I do not think the locks are very secure inside the mechanism, so a screw driver here would work as well.
