I bought a six-pack of the nylon 1/2x1/2 nipples - have 5 left. Will share.

Hey! I just stumbled across your reply. The past 2 months have been a blur. Thanks so much for the offer, I ended up ordering a 5-pack from Amazon myself.

All plumbed up and happily draining now myself. Just used the setup yesterday to winterize our rig.

I almost did this mod on our Imagine but we traded for our Solitude 3350RL. Yup the bigger units have steel tanks with an anode rod. They do not have the plastic plug.
I drain my hot water tank by opening up the low point drains by the Nautilus panel then lift up on the water heater pressure valve release lever. That drains the tank, then you can pull the anode rod out without the gush of water.
Yup I know messing with the pressure release lever, sometimes on some units once you flip the lever back the valve wont seal off completely. Depends on how limed up and corroded the pressure release valve is. I always push on the pin that is connected to the release lever just to make sure it seated and sealed. I also very carefully check to make sure the pressure release valve doesn't leak when water fills up the hot water tank.

I initially installed mine this way, then as I thought about it, I changed it so that the valve is mounted directly to the hot water tank drain nipple, then the hose. This minimizes the number of potential leak points between the tank and the valve. Either way, I think, would work equally well.

Yep - installed about a month ago. DW asked why we need it "you're going to nickel and dime us to death on this camper". We needed it for the ease of use alone. And if she only knew......
