I am not super boondocker guy, maybe 7 nights a year, but I like to know the state of my batteries while I am on them so I spent some bucks and got a Victron Energy Battery Monitor. Bit of a pain to install, but I can see what my usage is and has been. I also went to 2 6v golf cart batteries. I looked at more expensive options but felt that I wouldn't use them enough to justify the cost.

Took my 320G back to the dealer for the post-purchase list of of warranty items. They actually replaced the battery box and screwed it together. So, no, it is not intended to have the cover just sitting on top of the battery in the matter it was sold to us.
