    Decal Warranty

I thought there was a 5-year warranty on the poor decals. Our red decals are all cracked/peeling. My wife called GD Customer service today and was told we would have to buy the decals through a dealer. That is the same level of GD Customer Service I have experienced since I bought the Reflection less than 5 years ago (except when the tv went out a couple of weeks after we bought it). I guess it's way less hassle to remove all the decals.

We've always been told we had to purchase GD items (for replacing things) from a dealer. Never been able to purchase directly.

I don't really want to purchase things supposedly covered under warranty.

I'm not positive but I think that the 5 year warranty came later, sometime in 2016 because they were having a lot of decal issues. If you do a search I believe you will find a more accurate date than my memory.

Grand Design changed (increased) the length of warrantee on the decals recently (last year or so?). Sorry I do not know the details. I believe it was increased to 5(?) years in 2018, at least on the Solitudes. I know this has been discussed here before. Try using the search function (upper right corner of the page) to see if you can find the discussion.

The dealer told me, today, the decals are no longer available. I wonder why Grand Design customer service didn't say that?

I'd question GD about that. Dealers, typically, are not very forthcoming about how to get things fixed on the RVs they sell.

My 2017 had a five year decal warranty. May have been first year they offered it, I don’t know. I understand it does not cover labor to remove or install.

We spruced up a motorhome we owned years ago. New decals from the manufacturer were very expensive. I took the coach to a sign shop that did vinyl on vehicles. They made vinyl decals that looked like the original (we did make some color changes) and installed them for us. We paid less than what the manufacturer wanted for the decals only. I did remove the old decals myself to save on labor costs.

Just as an example, one large letter decal (a W) was $75 each from Winnebago (I needed two). I paid the vinyl shop $30 for both of the big letters.
