    Gotta drop the chloroplast

Got a lot of water in the belly of our 5vr this past weekend. Cut a small hole in he lowest point and drained it out. Next step is to drop the plastic and survey the damage. What type of insulation is in there? Is it on the chloroplast or suspended under the floor? I don't want to have mold issues going forward. Running a/c and dehumidifier.
What happened you might ask? If we ever happen to meet, then I'll pour the drinks as you gather around the campfire. I'll stare at the ground and tell the story while you kick back in your chairs and howl with laughter.

The pink fiberglass insulation is in there acting like a sponge.

Our 374 is in the shop right now. A bunch of problems that they are fixing including a hydraulic leak. The dealership shop is going to put this in, instead of the pink sponge stuff. KEN

Ken sorry to hear you are having problems. I have used rockwool, I think it would absorb water just like fiberglass? Why do they think it will be better?

Was wondering the same thing so I found this on their site...

    2) What happens if ROCKWOOL insulation gets wet?

ROCKWOOL insulation is moisture resistant yet vapor permeable. In the event the insulation becomes damp or wet, the insulation, when thoroughly dried, will maintain the original performance characteristics.

ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation does not wick water, which means that any bulk water that contacts the outer surface will drain and not be absorbed into the body of the insulation.

So, I guess it would be okay..? Still seems to me that water retention would still be an issue because of the phrase "thoroughly dried", but I dunno.

We recently had the coroplast off our 2014 - 303, the batting insulation is up under the floor (above the holding tanks) and can only be seen in a few areas. There is a mylar barrier of sorts laying on the floor of the coroplast along with all the wiring (you're going to want some zip ties because those hanging wires will make any one crazy) . If the water came from above the batting I'd leave the coroplast down a few days if you can with a strong fan blowing in that area to aid in drying it out.

If you accidentally left a tap on and walked away, don't fret...many have done the same thing...we don't leave the sink plug in place in the bathroom for that very reason. I swear that thing has it's own sensor and closed when ever the water was turned on.. we caught it before it was a disaster though.

I agree the pink stuff probably won't. I'd be more concerned nothing will in a confined space like that.

And it's really cool if you do it in the winter. The water ran along the kitchen floor and found a weak spot near the slide by the front door, ran out that, then hydroed over to the stair case and ran down the stair case. You really really don't want to hear these words from your wife: "Honey, why is there a giant icicle running down our stairs...."

Let us know how it goes, When it comes time to put it back up if you have 2 people and a long 2 by 4 they can slowly walk down the length of the trailer holding up the coroplast for you as you replace all the screws.
