Dometic Fridge Over Heat (12 CF)

Have a new 2019 337rls. Fridge has been heating up to 50 degrees sometimes. GD called me the other day with a possible solution. He said the auto defrost is set to work at 2 PM everyday. Said to turn off fridge at 2PM and leave off for 15 min. This resets the auto defrost to 2 AM. I did it 2 days ago and now in the afternoon it has maintained at 33-35 degrees. Granted we are at the beach where it’s 75 every day. But the first day here, the fridge was 50. Thought I should pass on to everyone. Crossing my fingers that’s all it was.

Did GD explain how a Refrigerator know what time of day it is?
Trying to understand that, as there is not a time setting on the RV Frig that I'm aware of.

What has been said on this forum, and by others: The Dometic Frig's will defrost the first time at 60 hours after use, then every 48 hours after that.

Ours kept warming up as well. Ended up getting a new cooling unit and having baffle height adjusted. We will see if this resolves the issue. It’s taken 10 months and 4 dealer visits to get to this point.

They did not say and that’s a good question. You got me there! Now the answer seems pretty silly.

The frig doesn't know the time of day, but the frig would know how much time has passed since it was turned on. So, if you power it off at 2pm, then 60 hours (2.5 days) later it would start the defrost cycle which would be 2am.
