We have a 2014 Reflection 303 and the springs aren't rusty like that. The rust would likely return unless you use one of those spray paints that correct corrosion.
We're replacing our springs this weekend because they're starting to flatten out especially on the kitchen side. . You might want to start thinking about that soon too.Marcy & Gary

Thanks to Rob of Rob and Kate and all of his wonderful work about these trailers with the heavy kitchen slide I had a good idea about what to do about ours. We have a spring shop (John R Spring) near by. They have a big warehouse and sell to spring shops all over. They also have a repair facility along with a parts counter and this is where I went to get my new springs. On our trailer we have noticed our trailer sagging on the kitchen side more than what it did when we bought it. Looking underneath above the tires you could see where the tires have been making contact with the bottom of the trailer. When at john r spring I told them about the trailer with the one side being about 7 or 8 hundred pounds heavier. I asked if having an extra leaf added to that one side was appropriate or overkill. He said that would be the thing to do. So I too will now have stronger springs on one side. I don't think they will be rated for 6k#s but they should make things right. I didn't like just putting a spacer in between the spring and the axle to raise the trailer on the one side as that would not help to keep the springs on one side from wearing out prematurely.
I can't tell you how much it would cost to have the springs installed as we are doing the work ourselves. The 4 springs new u-bolts with nuts and an extra leaf added to two of the springs ran with tax $228.Marcy & Gary

John612 two thoughts, first don't worry about the rust on the springs, it's superficial IMHO.
Second is that spring in the picture looks a little flat to me, if it were mine I would be showing it to some trailer/rv tech guys for a second opinion, then, if you do replace the springs, you can take a few minutes to totally spray the new springs with rustoleum paint as a preventative measure, won't stop the rust, but it will slow it down some. I did talk to a fella that had some bonding bridge paint from a project, he coated his springs in that stuff.
For me, a little rust on the springs is normal.Dallas

@John612,
A truck/trailer service shop that knows what they're doing would make quick work of replacing the springs - maybe 3 or 4 hours of shop labor by the time they jack up the trailer, remove the wheels, swap out the springs, and put everything back together. The shop that we've been using charges $90 per hour for labor. Rates in your neck of the woods may be somewhat different.Joe & Joy + children

Hey John, if you replace the springs, A-1 spring on union ave. sells American made springs and at a reasonable price.
If worried about the rust I would just spray them with rustolium rust reformer and call it good.Jim (& Sharon)

Thanks you guys, I'll have them checked out.
This forum is amazing, all the help we get and it still amazes me how many folks I talk to who are pulling Grand Designs and don't know about it.
You would think forum info would be in the paperwork every time a rig is sold!John, Susan & Luke
