    Have you switched Truck Brands?

    Have you switched and why?

I haven't owned many trucks in my life. My first one was a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab. It was a nice truck and I never really had any issues with it. The 5.3L seemed a little underwhelming but it was good enough for me. I owned it for 9 years. When I was looking for a new truck I felt that GM hadn't really changed much with their trucks. Kind of the same old bland interior. Got tired of mediocrity I guess. At the time I also had the chance to drive a relative's Dodge 2500 with a 5.7L Hemi. I couldn't believe how much more zip that truck seemed to have than mine. I decided to jump ship and go with a '13 Ram 1500 Laramie. I got an extra 100 hp and better economy with a big list of technology improvements that GM couldn't match. Since then, I haven't seen a reason to switch trucks. I've owned other brands of cars/SUVs but so far Ram still has my attention for their trucks.

    What's your story?

I'm a Mopar guy (69'RR, 74'Dodge van). I tend to keep vehicles for 15-20 years. When I moved to Veradale WA in 89' Ford trucks were everywhere and inexpensive. I really wanted a crew cab with 5 kids but couldn't find one so settled for a 78' F250. A guy at work bugged me for two years to sell it to him. When I saw a 77' F250 extra cab come up I sold it to him. I sure liked that truck. I bought the 77' in 1992 and I still drive it.

Then....... I started looking at TTs as I near retirement (my current camper is 20 this year) and found this forum (man it's cost me a lot of $$$ ). I now understand I was way over weight the last 20 years with my F250 so I started looking for a truck that would handle a Refection series or maybe one of the shorter Solitude's. I liked the looks and capabilities of the Ram line better than the others. I also like the seats the best. Six months of searching I found this one in La Grande, Oregon.

Then I bought a SxS. Now Looking at the Momentum line . Good thing I went dually I'm a little disappointed that my Ram has so many recalls. It's my first diesel and I'm a bit concerned about the stories of DEF problems and added expense of ownership but after 4 years I'm averaging about $80USD/year for oil changes and no major repairs (just fuel filters replacement). Knock on wood here. I hope this continues for another 15-20 years .

    Regards,
    Kevin

We have always had Fords and always liked them. They have been good to us and pretty much trouble free. In 2015 after we had our 303 for a year we decided to get a new truck. We first looked at Fords but we had a problem with if we got the Ford we wouldn't know it because it would look just like our old one. We got the GMC Denali and have been very happy. It has a great ride loaded or unloaded. The infotainment system has worked great and is easy to use. Marcy can reach the controls without a problem and she is short. When we get another new truck if it is srw it will be another Denali. If we go to a drw I'm leaning more to the F450. That wide track front end with that tight turning radius is great. Have never had good luck with Dodges and I really don't like those towing mirrors. Another thing with Dodge I don't think they work very well for short people and Marcy does most of the driving.

My last F150 Lariat crew cab truck is the last of the 7.3 diesels, and I'm not about to get rid of it at 145K miles. With 2 tone paint, it still looks great. And with a 80 hp econo tuner, I'm getting 20 mpg on the open highway, and it's certainly strong enough to pull my Reflection 5th wheel.

This truck is scheduled to wear out the engine when I'm 93 years old.

    I’m on my 57th new car/truck.

Fords have always treated us well so like a spouse, if you find a good brand you stick with it.

With X-Plan, shopping for excellent trade in offers and occasional $3000 Private Cash Offers trading often is not as costly as you would imagine.

The last 4 Ford trucks have all been the same color. I do this so that my neighbors don’t catch on that I’m nuts.

Haha good thinking on the color jerryr! I have a new 2019 Explorer Sport that is that magnetic color, I love it, lots of sparkle in it. I too am in the upper 50's on number of new vehicles over the years...it's a sickness lol.
