All the suggestions are great. Like the post above, we use walkie talkies and they are very helpful.

Slide clearance was mentioned above. Make a story pole out of doweling or 3/4 inch pvc pipe. A stripe of tape to denote each slide, we have 3 different slide lengths. Makes it easy to ensure clearance from pedestals, trees and such.

When at a full hook up campsite, don't leave your valves open while sewer hose is connected.

Let black and gray tanks fill up as normal and empty as necessary.

And remember - water is your friend. Be wary of the poop pyramid.

Keep the paper copy of the Owner's Manual handy. Download a copy to your computer for those times you are out of wifi/cell range. Lots of good information from which cleaner to use to how to prime the refrigerator.

Whenever we leave, even for a few hours, we shut off water. Anything can happen, anytime. It takes all of a few seconds to walk around and turn the valve. We learned from someone else who gave us that tip because of their own bad experience.

Add a tip of camper care for newbie/advance be constructive

If you have had your LP off at the tank valve for a few days or more and want to run your fridge on LP, it likely won’t light. You can purge the gas lines of air by turning the stove on and hold a lighter on it until it lights. Could take a minute or so. Restart the fridge and it will light off. Make sure to turn off the stove and let the lighter cool off before putting it back into the drawer.

When backing up to hitch the 5'er, I put a extendable magnetic stick on the tailgate. It will help guide you straighter towards the hitch. If you can see the hitch and the extendable magnetic stick, use it like a gun sight to back under the hitch.

Always remember to put your TV in park when you forget to pull the lever to disconnect the 5th wheel.

Since no one has taken this low hanging fruit, used dryer sheets are amazing at cleaning bugs off the front of a fifth wheel and/or windshield on truck or Class A.
