I’m not sure I’d trust my RV bumper that much. I do have a hitch rated at 300 lb and a cargo carrier. It’s only 60 lb. the genny is 100lb so I’d be under capacity. I’ve just read that most people feel there’s too much bouncing going on back there for a gen

I have a Champion Dual Fuel Generator and I only use Propane to run it. Consequently, without fuel in the tank, bouncing would not be an issue for us.

As far as weight goes, there are carriers that have higher weight ratings (I've seen one with a 400 lb rating. Additionally, there are carrier kits that include bumper reinforcements to make the higher weight rating.

If your hitch ( I assume it is on the camper) is rated at 300lb, the easiest, and cheapest option would be to replace the carrier with one that has a higher weight rating.
