Worth adding subwoofer to Furrion 3200?

Our first trip this past weekend in our used 2017 Imagine 2150RB! First thing I noticed is the awful sound system - ceiling speakers are only slightly better than the TV speakers. I pulled the Furrion unit out and looked at the connections on it. I connected the TCL TV audio out to AV In to try to get better sound for the TV. The high end is OK, but it could definitely use a subwoofer. There is a 'subwoofer out' connection on the Furrion. Has anyone connected a (powered? 12v?) subwoofer with success?

Reading some threads here, I see many people install sound bars. Not sure if that's possible in the 2150 cabinet, so maybe a subwoofer would do the trick. Another 2150 owner who upgraded their sound system would be great to talk with. :-)

    Thanks!

I put a Samsung sound bar with a wireless sub in our Reflection 297RSTS and disabled the Furrion sound altogether. The sub works great and you can plug it in anywhere (ours is under the kitchen table pointed at a corner and out of the way. The sound bar is also the perfect height to sit on the shelf under the TV (maybe a 1/2" clearance). Here's a link. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung...?skuId=6327857 Cheers, Oz

I have a 337 and i was able to install a vizio sound bar mounted to the tv. I can still push it back and lock it in during transport. I had to move the tv mounting bracket up about 1/2 inch. Here are the brackets i used. I looked at some pics of your camper and you might get it to work.

Yes, actually I saw your post already. I didn't think I could fit a soundbar because the TV is mounted on a wall-mount arm. But the brackets you posted a link to may fit...? I just dropped the trailer off at a storage yard 45 mins away today, so I might have to wait until I make it back out there to measure how much room I have in that wall-mount space.

How is the bass with that sound bar? I think that's the key thing that needs help with the stock sound system. I was hoping a 12v powered subwoofer might do. I thought I might be able to mount one in the bottom of the cabinet next to the furnace outlet.

Ah, OK. I am trying the least invasive and cheapest solution first... just add a subwoofer to the existing output from the Furrion unit. It might be enough to make it bearable.

All you would be doing is adding low-frequencies to the existing high-distortion, limited bandwidth audio from the Furrion.

True, but you are full time RVing... I am camping a few times a year for a week or so at a time. I don't need audiophile quality just watching TV or playing video games or listening to the radio. I don't even have that great a sound system at home either, it's just not that important. (actually I built my own Ed Frias bookshelf speakers and 14" sub, but don't even use them any more -- see http://forums.audioreview.com/speake...d-21379-3.html) But the system does need something to reach down below 200Hz or so. ;-)

I think Maximus216 has the best idea for you. A soundbar even a small one would help along with your idea of adding a small subwoffer . It would not take a big sub either just a small one would do. Not like your trying to knock the walls down theater style.
