Any experience with the Reese 5th Airborne pin box.

I'm thinking about replacing the lippert 1621 with the reese 5th airborne. I've looked at the trailair but i don't like that the airbag and shock is exposed. The reese looks more like a regular pin box. I would like some feedback from people who have used it. thanks.

Had it on a previous 5th wheel, worked great.

One thing it doesn't like to work with is a Pullrite hitch. The tolerances are so tight on the hitches that the airbag was too slow to push the pin plate down when backing in and the arm on the hitch wouldn't grab the pin.

Had a heck of time hooking up. I eventually switched to a MorRyde pinbox and never looked back.

I used the Fifth Airborne with the B&W Companion hitch for about three years and 15000 miles. It worked well. It really smoothed out the ride. I had only one minor problem with the valve core leaking. Put in a new one and changed the valve cap to a metal one. Never leaked again. I switched to the Reese GooseBox because I wanted more space available in the bed, less weight to lift when moving the hitch and a hitch that took less space when stored.

Is there much difference between the morryde and reese? The reese has the airbag, did it help?

Yes, it eliminated chucking when I had my short bed truck.

The MorRyde did the same thing, without the air bag and shock. Less moving parts.

Now, I have a long bed, and no towing issues at all.
