2nd A/C 303RLS
Any thoughts on 2nd A/C in 303RLS? Cost? I understand it depends on climate etc…Special order only?
Thanks

Ours came with the 2nd air unit. It works great to cool the 5th down when you first roll in to stay. As we go to bed we turn off the bedroom air and use the living area air on duct feed and it is whisper quiet to sleep with.

I believe it’s around $800 if you do a factory order (unless prices have gone up this year). There are some dealers that order theirs for the lot with a second ac already on them. We tried to get our dealer to add a second one for $1500 when we were negotiating on our trailer and they said no for that price.

Adding a second a/c unit should be routine for any dealer. The trailers have the ducting and wiring above the 14" x 14" vent in the front bedroom already--in most cases. For a good technician, adding the a/c unit shouldn't be done in 90 minutes--or less. Many owners have even taken on the job.

Yeah, I read that the unit is pre-wired and ready for the second A/C. Should make it fairly simple to do. Thanks for the reply!

We had the dealer add a second Dometic unit similar to the unit in the living room about 9 months after we took delivery. We added a heat strip to the unit so it can heat the bedroom as well. I think we paid around $1700 to have installed. In hindsight I wish we would have gone with a low profile as it added about 14 inches to the height of the trailer. I'm happy with the unit, both Ac and heat work fine and as others have said it's great to cool down the bedroom and then switch to main at night.

Another advantage to the 2nd air is once the unit gets cooled down I typically shut the AC unit in the living room down and just run the one in the bedroom while watching TV or just talking.
Having the 2 on the 303 is great as you can cool the RV down MUCH faster and to a lower temp then with just one AC. Will not get another RV without 2 AC's.
Have Fun

We added a second unit to our 28bh over this last winter. It was a piece of cake, hardest part was getting it up to the roof. We went with a Coleman rather than the Dometic in the living room, I'd heard they were quieter and more reliable. Got a heat pump unit with electric backup and it was great for some early spring camping we did. Didn't even run the furnace, just the fireplace and the heat pump worked great. Probably close to $1400 by the time I was done.
