    Purchased New Tow Vehicle today

DW and I signed the deal today on a new tow vehicle. The Tundra was a great tow vehicle for 10 years and towed the 297RSTS for over 7000 miles in the last year since we purchased it and did it well. I knew is was at the Tundra's limits, just a little over payload and that when the time came for a new tow vehicle would go heavier to have some margin.

So DW and I signed the paperwork on a brand new RAM 3500 Crew Cab today and pick it up on Wednesday. Went with the diesel option and Aisin transmission. Gives me room to upgrade to fifth wheel potentially in the future. Good payload at 3830 lbs. Biggest problem now is after I get it on Wednesday I need to get 500 miles on it before we leave for Myrtle Beach on September 13th. Guess I will be driving everywhere and enjoying the new truck.

Thanks. Yes the chrome and aluminum wheels really accent the black paint on the truck. Considering how well I found the Tundra towed I am looking forward to towing on the "dark" side.

Thanks. Getting excited to start towing with the new truck next week to see the difference between this one and the Tundra. Based on what I have heard should be a lot better.

"A lot better" is an understatement. Before this GD TT we had a 32' FR Rockwood, probably about 6500 lbs. My 3500 pulled it very, very easily and the stability was rock solid. It is just so much more relaxed when you're towing with a capable vehicle. Enjoy!

    Great truck!

I have it's baby brother (Ram 1500 with the EcoDiesel) and absolutely love how it tows though for sure not nearly as capable as your new truck. The interior comfort is outstanding - long trips don't feel as long with the comfortable seats, climate control and audio system.

You'll love the diesel - effortless towing and markedly better towing mileage. Enjoy!

Thanks Bob. Glad to hear that. Looking forward to the first tow in one week down to Myrtle Beach. The campground we are staying at has confirmed very little damage and open for business.

I wouldn't worry about the 500 miles. A travel trailer won't make that truck even breathe deeply. It really takes 25K miles or more to break in the engines.

Thanks for the info. Nearly there though and have 440 miles on it right now. Will be all good to go.
