How much fresh water can you safely carry while on the road? We have 310 GK R.

You can fill the tank if you are careful with your other loading. ~90 gallons = ~750lbs plus the 12 gals or 100lbs in the hot water tank.

Most of that weight is over the axles.

Thanks, so it’s primarily the weight as opposed to the weight slouching around damaging the tank?

Yep. Slosh away. There is actually a lot less sloshing in a full tank. You may lose some water from the overflow tube but that is normal, and if annoying, addressable.

The first trip we made in our 310 GK was for dry camping. We were upgrading from a 38 gallon FW capacity in our TT. So I filled it at home until overflowing and showered like we had full hook ups.

My truck had no problem towing us to over 10,000' elevation on the way to the CG. I weighed the truck with over 2/3rds of the freshwater tank filled last week. I have plenty of payload available for the GK, not so much for the truck.

    Best regards,
    Chris

What did your trailer weigh? Loaded and pin weight if you don't mind.

I posted the specs over here the other day.

This was before I installed the Retrax PRO MX tonneau cover onto the truck. OTOH I had everything other than food and clothing I could possibly stuff into the GK. We're coming from a TT+Large SUV combo and the basement and front storage area of the GK has all the gear that used to ride in the SUV, plus new tools and toys.

I'm hoping to weigh it again in late October. We have a trip scheduled that will take us right by that location during business hours. I suspect at that time the F350 will be officially out of payload (but within axle ratings).

    Best regards,
    Chris

We have made multiple trips with a full fresh water tank when we know we will not have water hookups at our destination. Our 5th wheel actually handles better with with a full FW tanks than empty.
