Anyone build a sewer dump at home?

I have a septic system and am considering it.

We didn't build a dump but conviently our sewer clean out trap is in the driveway next to the trailer. I's come in handy on several occasions plus gives us the opportunity to do a good holding tank cleaning.

I've been thinking about plumbing in a clean out fitting just before the tank. I'm not sure if it's gonna hurt anything.

Won't hurt a thing and exactly what we did. We have a 3 tank system before our mound and just dug down to the inlet side between the house and the holding tank stubbed in a T and put a threaded cap on the end that we can hook up to as needed. Very convenient... one word of caution, just make sure your tank has space to accommodate the amount your dumping.

Call it a clean out and nobody will give you grief if that's a concern.

Something else you would want to check is the chemicals you put in your tanks. I have read that some of them are not compatible with septic systems. In Michigan all of the state parks are having to replace their hoding tanks. The chemicals that people use in their tanks has caused them to leak.

Roadtrip31mb mentioned making sure I had enough space before using it. I know I have a 1000 gallon tank, but not sure what I would check.

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought about it. I will look into it. We use happy campers and I think it's okay.

If you are a good dooby and pull a building permit to accomplish the task tell them you are making a septic line clean out port, not a an RV dump port.
