Don't tow and talk on phone!

Ok so here's my little "almost a disaster" story. Pulled the Solitude out to the dealer last week to get a state inspection done and a replacement LED light strip ordered for the awning as a few were not working. It's a sharp swing wide type of driveway into the dealer. Just as I'm starting to turn in I get a call from work about some pressing matter and I took my eye off the ball. Yep...forgot to swing wide! Thank God I had the drivers window down and I heard a light metallic scraping sound and felt a little bump from the trailer. Since I didn't swing wide the inside trailer tires dropped down off the driveway apron (3-4 inches no big deal) and the middle jack kissed the pavement. I hit the brakes and looked in the mirror and my heart stopped lol!! I was about 3 feet from dragging the jack, both tires and probably the axles springs and the kitchen sink up a easy 12-15 inch curb and back onto the driveway! I would have done an easy 10K in damage right there in front of the entire dealership lol. Instead I backed up and pulled in the right way like I meant to do that lol. Needless to say the phone distracted me for 10 seconds and that's all it took.

In Ontario Canada it's 3 demerit points and I believe it's either 750.00 or 1,000.00 fine for using a cell phone and driving.

I looked it up 615.00 to 1000.00 first offence 3 points
    2nd offence 615.00 to 2 000.00 6 points plus license suspension
    3rd offence 615 to 3 000 6 points plus license suspension.

    Way to much for me.

Haha thanks...I knew that response would come. I was on the handsfree connection so I wasn't holding the phone. Holding a phone and driving is a big ticket in Texas as well. I could just as easily have been talking to a passenger. I was making the point that towing these monsters takes full time concentration

I do not need a phone, if there is a tender young thing walking on the side of the road, I would be just as distracted. Wifey just laughs.

Many states still allow cell phone while driving. I cringe daily in Florida while driving. Everyone talks on the phone or is texting. Had a guy pass us in TN on hwy 75 at Knoxville steering with his knees while texting. Glad your state has high fines for using a phone and driving more states should. Glad your using a hands free with your phone

And the cell phone is just the tip of the problems we are faced with anymore. Too bad but because of rules here I won't continue.

Once I leave the highway and get on the residential streets the radio goes off. 200 % focus is a good idea to keep from scratching things.

I don’t get how we as a human race forgot how to walk and talk at the same time. Trucks support hands free calling. It’s no different than someone sitting in the passenger seat. In a hairy situation or heavy traffic you just don’t answer.
