Roof Top satellite dish?
We have a new 380 and are looking to mount the Winegard auto track dish on top of out trailer. Looking at the wiring chart is does not look to be pre wired on the roof, is that correct? If not what is the best way to mount the dish and get the feed back down and into the side for the TV?
Thanks for your help..

Well that's not the answer I was looking for...We have been traveling a lot for a long time, tag trailers, MH and now we are on our 3rd 5th wheel, first trailer we have come across that is not set up for a dish on the roof..Love the trailer so far but some of the things left off just makes us think designers at GD have never spent time in campers before..

I had 3 RVs with rooftop sat antennas, even 1 Palm tree might block signal. I use the Carryout 2 now, it's easier to move than my RV

I sell RV's for a living, and find that almost impossible.
We have 4 different brands of 5th wheels, and NONE of them have sat prep to the roof.
Even the Carriage products we carried did not have it.
As was stated, most opt for the portable dish so they can move it to actually receive a signal.Steve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com

We recently camped in a State Park (Chicot)...tons of trees, and next to us was this gorgeous 40+ ft motor home...simple loaded including a roof top satellite dish. After he set up, out he comes with a Winegard Carryout. We asked about the rooftop system and it's owner told us that most times he can not use the system mounted on top because of trees, etc. He usually tries to get a signal but when it fails, he uses the Carryout which included about 100ft of wiring!

I have a 2015 380TH and had the Winegard Traveler mounted on the roof. I went with this option for 2 reasons, 1- I didn't know any better; and 2 - I was told it was the only option to get HD DirectTV. To install the roof mount antenna, the dealer had to disable the cable input. So now, I cannot connect to the local cable available in some parks even if I wanted too. As others have said, in parks with tree coverage, I've had the satellite signal get blocked so the dish was useless. The next one I buy, I will use the portable antenna if it will pick up HD channels.

I too have the Traveler on my 293. I bought this trailer used and the previous owner had Camping World install it. The installed it just back of the bathroom on the low portion of the roof and then went through the roof between the bath and living room wall. The power supply is located behind the switch panel with a splitter located in the under storage cabinet. My understanding is the Traveler solution is the only one you can use on Direct and have three separate receivers attached to the antenna. The previous owner evidently liked his TV. One in the living, one in bedroom and than another 46" in the storage area that swings out. All with their own receivers.
Camping World did an excellent job of installing this unit and the roof looks professional with no sign of any issues in leaking. The interior install looks great and they used a simple switch near the Kantleak to switch from cable to sat. So you can still use local cable at a park if you like.
Since I live in the West tree obstructions are not a common occurrence so I have not had issues with reception.
But, this option is expensive, if it was me on a new unit I would have bought the portable version just due to the cost factor.Jerry & Jeanine
