Hitching and unhitching dilemma....
Hi all,
I'm finding out that my driveway / street are not a good combo for hitching up when backing straight in. There is a dip in the driveway to street coupled along with a downhill angle of the street. I'm thinking I can back in at an angle from downhill side to hook up. The only problem is with the angle, one of the bars will not reach to connect it. Is it ok to hook up the WDH without the bars on and take it to a more level place to put the bars on once I leave the driveway? I was told if the angle of the dip is too steep, it could bend the bars. Trying not to destroy our hitch and truck :rolleyesgif. Sorry for the sideways pic, not sure how it got that way.

It would be to hookup without the bars, pull out into street and and find a safe place to park to hookup the bars. Would also be ok in reverse order for bringing TT home.
My previous TT I had to jackknife it to park it in my driveway. I couldn't do that or hookup properly with the bars, so I would disconnect them prior to parking and hook them up when the camper was in line with the TV, no issues at all.

Yep... I do it all the time. Especially when backing into a camp site where I have to make tight turns or if the ground is not very level. I just don't drive very far or fast without the bars & sway controller.
