Getting to the trailhead
We are currently dreaming of our next rig and we are considering going with a Momentum Fifth Wheel. I'm wondering how people get their toys to the trailhead? I assume that the best plan would be to stay in a location that you can just go ride, but that might not always be an option. Any thoughts?

Always presents a problem. Depends on the state. Some states are your friendly like Wyoming and Montana and some aren't like Texas.

Too much logistics involved in breaking camp to get SxS to the trailhead. Always camp where we can ride directly from campsite. There are plenty of places you can do that, you just have to be diligent.

I have stuck with dual sport motorcycles simply because they are licensed and can go on any road. So we pick campgrounds close to the adventure and then just ride over. But we sold the dual sports and now have a street bike and bicycles. Our offroading now is restricted to the old biped system.

We struggled with this a while back. You didn't mention what toy you're interested in, so this may not help. We had 2 1-up quads we use on the trails. After much thought, we tried one of those fold-up trailers from Harbor Freight. We figured I could remove the hitch, load one quad in the bed of the truck and put the other one on the trailer. Great idea, didn't work. Manhandling and folding the trailer inside the garage ended up being just too much trouble. I ended up selling the trailer to a co-worker for just shy of what I had in it, so that wasn't too bad. Our solution in the end was to trade one of the quads for a lightly used 2-up quad (see signature). This way if we can ride to the trailhead, we bring both quads. If not, we just load the 2-up in the bed of the truck and ride together. Again, all that would depend on your particular toy.

A friend of mine used to rent a U-Haul trailer at his destinations. I think he said $20 a day. We just camp where we can ride.

Thanks for all of the feedback! We currently have 2 sportsman 4 wheelers, but we are considering going to a RZR. One thought that I had was to just load the RZR in the bed of the truck, but that would we have to remove the hitch and install some sort of tailgate support so the weight of the RZR is supported. We are a couple years off from making any changes, but it's always fun to look!
