    Important Safety Recall

    Hello all,

    I just received a safety recall on vehicles manufactured between March 12, 2015 and April 6, 2015 with Lippert Components 5200# axles that used Tru-Ryde axle hubs, the axle hubs may shear or break. If the axle hubs were to shear or break while your trailer is being towed the potential exists for wheel separation. Just giving anyone that is on the road or has not received this safety recall a heads up.

    The only 5200 recall I see is from 2006 is this recent?

    Manufacturer: LIPPERT COMPONENTS, INC.
    SUMMARY:
    CERTAIN LIPPERT TRAILER AXLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN MAY AND JUNE 2006 AND INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FOR CERTAIN RECREATIONAL TRAVEL TRAILERS. DUE TO MISLOCATED SPINDLE WELDS, THE SPINDLE MAY PARTIALLY OR COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE AXLE TUBE AND THE WHEEL AND HUB ASSEMBLY MAY COME OFF THE VEHICLE.
    CONSEQUENCE:
    SUDDEN AXLE FAILURE COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
    REMEDY:
    LIPPERT IS WORKING WITH THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS TO NOTIFY OWNERS AND WILL INSPECT FOR MISLOCATED WELDS AND REPLACE THE AXLE IF NECESSARY. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT THEIR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER OR CONTACT LIPPERT AT 1-877-870-4900.

    So I am wondering if the unit I am picking up on Tuesday is affected, will the dealer be notified or will I be notified seeing as I am purchasing after the recall notice. I would assume that GD will keep up with where the affected units end up, just do not want to miss this because of the timing of my purchase.

    Here is a link to the NHTSA's recall notice. It affects 2015-2016 Reflection 303RLS, 308BHTS and 313RLTS trailers manufactured March 12, 2015, to April 6, 2015.

    I have the 313rlts. The made date only shows 3/2015 no day. I know the recall dates are from 3/12/15 to 4/6/15. I haven't received a call. So is my tailer good? Or?

    If you haven't received a letter from Grand Design, you're probably not affected. However, for peace of mind why don't you give customer service a call tomorrow? Have your VIN number when you call them.

    Hi @Dave & Kate,

    Your Reflection is part of the recall. At the time of release your unit was not registered so the notice was sent to your dealer. Please contact your dealer to have your axle hubs inspected to determine if your unit has the suspect hubs.
