    question on battery connection

We have had to winterize and store our 2500rl early due to an upcoming medical procedure with a long recovery.

Anyway, when I removed the battery I made the remark to my wife that at least GD used red and black wires at the battery rather then white and black etc.

Well, after getting the battery out and home I started wondering if the red wire was really to + and black to -? Depends on which way the battery is turned if you know what I mean.

I should be able to trace the wires and determine the answer before hooking the battery back up but just thought I would confirm on this site if I could.

So, is the red cable + and black cable - on your 2500rl?

    Thanks

Red should be positive (+12v) and black negative. Best to confirm (visually or with an ohm meter). There have been some very ummmmm creative wiring on these trailers. The ground (negative) cable probably runs to a bolt on the frame very close to the battery. Easy to physically check the connection. Hooking things up backwards, even for a second can damage a lot of electronics.

And according to many different codes and standards - black is ALWAYS negative, no matter the other color.

Throughout the RV, DC negative is always the white wire.
(except where they go to standard convention black and red for battery connections)
