Family of Four: Transcend Xplor 247BH
Greetings. We have rented a few times while looking for a camping trailer to meet our needs and preferences.
Jayco seemed to be the leader a few years ago (quality, design and layout) but Grand Design quickly became an interest for options. We considered an Imagine 2400BH but chose to start with the Transcend Xplor 247BH for our budget. We love the layout and the trailer seems well built.
Reading lots of posts here for tips as well as other resources. Our first camping weekend with the 247BH has gone well. The only minor issue was noticing small drips of water from the underbelly by the black/grey talk flush. The hot water connect to the bathroom sink was loose and dribbling water, which was quickly tightened. We live and camp in a dry climate, and hope that the leaked water will dry out. We will now check all fittings each time we connect or fill with to water!
Thanks for reading. Have Fun!

Hey “Bunkhausers”!
We are strongly considering purchasing a 247BH as well! We are a family of five (kiddos are 5,3,1), and also considered the 2400BH!
Question - have the water issues you mentioned above worked out? Do you recommend the trailer after having it a few months?
Thanks!

Hello. The water issue was due to a loose connection under the bathroom sink. We tightened it by hand and it has not been a problem since. The underbelly seems dry (our desert climate helps). It may not have been tightened correctly at the factory, perhaps missing some lock tight tape or glue. Seems to be a minor issue, would recommend checking all fittings in any trailer before each use.
After a few months, the only other issue seems to be heating air flow. When running the furnace, about 80% of the air comes out very forcefully in the bedroom. Very little airflow comes out mid-cabin and in the bathroom. Our concern is that the kiddos might be cold in the bunks while our bedroom would be too hot (unless we open the bedroom sliding door). Would recommend running all systems before purchase/pickup. We ran all systems but the heater before pickup because it was summer. Should have run the heater too!
We may contact the dealer or Grand Design to ask about the airflow. It may not be too critical since we don’t plan to winter camp, but still an important issue.
Overall, this seems to be the best model for our family for both layout and budget. The bunks are very comfy. We added a mattress topper to the master bedroom which helped there. The couch and couch bed is not that comfortable but works for us because we didn’t want a slide out. The couch would probably work well for a small kiddo to sleep on.
Good luck!

This seems to be a common complaint with certain models. After verifying that all ducts are still securely attached to the plenum on the heater, many have partially blocked the heater vent to the bedroom to divert air flow to other parts of the trailer. After all, most folks like to sleep cooler than we live, right? Due to space constraints and routing restrictions, RV heating systems aren't built like our houses!

Hello, we have the Transcend Xplor 247BH and are experiencing the issue with the bedroom getting way too hot when the heater runs. The post above mentions partially blocking the bedroom heater vent to divert more heat to the other vents. Can anyone describe the best way to do this?

I replaced the bedroom heater vent in our Reflection TT with one of these that can be closed down.

I had the same problem as well as not getting enough heat quickly to the rest of the trailer. I took the panel off under the sink on the left hand side to expose the furnace. Then I drilled a 4” hole in the spice rack under the sink. I took the 4” duct off the heater top that went to the bedroom and installed a T in the top of the furnace. The duct that went to the bedroom I placed on the 90 degree tap and picked up a 3’ piece of 4” flex duct and installed that on the straight through tap and mounted that to the new duct under the sink rim. Then I replaced the heat vent in the bedroom with one I could adjust the flow. Total cost for the whole project was under $20. Heats up the trailer very quickly now.
